Use all the available space and create a luxury kitchen centred around the family. Where everyone can cook, eat and relax in the same space.
In essence, the brief was to design and create a new hub for the living heart of the family. So having got to know the family, the team got to work.
The Design Brief
The house is a three-story home and the ground floor consists of the kitchen and utility room and opens onto the garden through French doors. So, the kitchen design needed to maximise the space offered by the whole floor.
Together we worked through bespoke kitchen designs and sketches and after a series of meetings with our head designer, we settled on a contemporary style with sleek / smooth lines that aids easy maintenance – which actually, became very important in our busy family space.
For colours and materials, we choose Light Grey Super Matt with white worktops from Krion, stands from Down and a super stylish Syncron Ice Jade island for the heart of our luxury kitchen.
By choosing a ‘true handless’ design, this brought super clean lines, giving us a contemporary kitchen design that would last and something that is easy to keep clean.
Using Maranatha’s bespoke carpentry, they were able to fully integrate the bin and dishwasher to keep the symmetry of sink, achieving a full length that gives the kitchen hub a visual sense of space. Finally, they used wrap around draws on the island to remove sharp edges and to create both a pleasing effect on the eye and add to the contemporary, yet homely, feel.
As you can see from the image above they built the oven outwards and placed it centrally in the room even though this incorporated two non-catalogued sized units of 800 mm width. This wider than typical design allowed us to incorporate spice racks beside each oven.
The ceiling box was shaped to reflect the island shape and maintain the sense of harmony through the kitchen. So we used this ceiling space to incorporate both the main lights as well as extractor fans.
Perfect lines and beautiful symmetry! We combined both a modern and contemporary design and feel with a style that will last and remain relevant for many years to come.
The standout unique element of our kitchen design – and the reason that we won the opportunity to design, create and build this beautiful kitchen – is our ability to use our bespoke kitchen carpentry from our local workshop to solve the challenge of the floating ovens. This capacity to build in our local workshop allowed us to create a winning design that delivered a fabulous result.
